Eastern New Mexico University Presents New Mexico New Works Festival

Portales, NM – April 17, 2025 – Eastern New Mexico University Department of Theatre and Digital Filmmaking is proud to present the 2025 New Mexico New Works Festival April 24-27 at the University Theatre Center on the ENMU Campus.

This year, the festival will feature ten plays by New Mexican playwrights. Playwrights include ENMU students, alumni, faculty, and playwrights from the region.

"Many of the plays in the festival started as projects in our classes. Some started in our playwriting class. Others started in our Children's Theatre class," said Leonard Madrid, Associate Professor of Theatre. "It is important to show students the process of moving plays from their brains to the page and finally to the stage."

The featured plays and playwrights who have work selected for inclusion in the 2025 New Mexico New Works Festival include:

"The Terg" by Amy Yourd (NM Playwright)

"Esther Speaks" by Megan Arlett (ENMU English faculty)
