Eastern New Mexico University believes in enriching the lives of Greyhounds by building community through leisure, recreation, and wellness opportunities. To cater to your diverse interests, ENMU provides many different facilities to help improve student health and wellness while on campus.
Commonly referred to as the MaxPAC, the Maxwell Physical Activity Center opened in 1998 when the Director of Intramurals and Recreation, Wallace Maxwell, prioritized establishing one area for all students to achieve their personal fitness goals.
The MaxPAC recently underwent a renovation and has a variety of equipment, including cardio equipment, free weights and machine weights.
Located between the College of Business and the ENMU Tennis Courts is an outdoor bodyweight circuit training center designed for adults of all ages and abilities and is fully accessible. The Fitness Court is open to the public, from dawn to dusk, and no membership is required.
While New Mexico may be a landlocked state, we know that everybody loves some pool time. The Natatorium hosts credit classes such as aqua aerobics and swimming. The Natatorium is open for lap swimming and recreational swim times, both free for students. Public use of the Natatorium is allowed with the purchase of a pass. Distance education holds classes for the community, such as swimming lessons and scuba.
ENMU has two indoor basketball courts available for students to use during open gym times when ENMU teams are not using them for practice. These gyms are located in the basement of Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena next to the MaxPac.
ENMU has two lighted outdoor pickleball courts and one outdoor tennis court. These courts are located between the College of Business and the Outdoor Basketball Courts.
ENMU has an outdoor track that is open from dawn to dusk. The outdoor track is located across from Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena on the west side of campus.
Intramurals
We provide intramural and recreational activities for students, faculty, and staff members. Research shows that individuals who set skill-based rather than weight-loss goals are likelier to continue with a set exercise program. Working on your technique for intramurals is a perfect example of a skill-based goal. But don't worry, while our intramurals are competitive, you don't need to be an expert to play. Most of our activities are offered in divisions based on skill and competitiveness, allowing you to find the right fit. Activities include flag football, indoor and outdoor volleyball, dodgeball, soccer, basketball, softball, and glow-in-the-dark kickball. Playing on an intramural team is a great way to make new friends and have fun.
