What Can I Study At ENMU?
With over 90 degree program options, ENMU likely has the undergraduate or master's degree that fits your educational or career goals. One of the best things about ENMU is that our mission is to help you reach those goals. We have associate, bachelor's and master's degrees, many of which are available online.
Can I Afford ENMU?
As an international student, you can now pursue a degree at ENMU at a significantly reduced cost! ENMU has joined a movement with many other public institutions to make college more affordable for international and out-of-state students. ENMU is the third most affordable regional university in the West.
How Do I Apply?
Coming to Eastern is easy! Best of all, applying for admission to ENMU is FREE! Any student attending ENMU on a non-immigrant visa can apply for admission as an international student. International students are required to be full-time students at ENMU-Portales and admission applies only to ENMU-Portales.
Eastern New Mexico University's international students currently represent 26 different countries, including Canada, China, Denmark, Ghana, India, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Brazil and more.

Portales Community

Beautiful Campus
When people visit our campus, one of the most common things we hear is, "Wow! You have a beautiful campus!" Our campus has a sprawling, green center surrounded by state-of-the-art building and art structures that make coming to ENMU a feel-good experience.
Spacious dorm rooms are located comfortably close to academic classrooms and popular campus destinations like our Crossroads Cafe Dining Hall or Golden Student Success Center (GSSC).

Recreational Opportunities
Recreational offerings in the city include a golf course, parks, swimming pools, tennis courts, playgrounds, softball fields, baseball diamonds, a youth recreation center, an archery range, racquetball courts and a fitness center.
Close to ENMU
Ski resorts, shopping malls, and state and national parks are within easy driving distance.
Clovis, a town of nearly 40,000, is 20 minutes away. Clovis is the home of the annual summer Clovis Music Festival and the famed Norman & Vi Petty Rock & Roll Museum celebrating U.S. musical talents including Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison. Past artists honored at the Clovis Music Festival have included Lonestar, Starship, Chubby Checker, Bobby Vee, Night Ranger, Tommy Allsup and dozens of others.
Arts and Culture
ENMU is home to several world-class venues and hosts many on-campus events including concerts, recitals, lectureships, art exhibitions, theatre performances, and student film screenings.
Multicultural Affairs also hosts a wide variety of on-campus events focused on celebrating cultural diversity.
Portales History and Museums
Portales is a doorway leading to rich human history stretching back 13,000 years to the Paleoindian mammoth hunters. ENMU operates five museums that provide an extensive look at regional history. The Blackwater Draw National Historic Landmark is one of the most well-known and significant sites in North America. The Blackwater Draw Museum features a complete display of prehistoric animals such as the woolly mammoth. The Miles Mineral Museum, Miles Anthropological Museum, Roosevelt County Museum, and Dr. Antonio "Tony" Gennaro Natural History Museum are housed on the ENMU campus.

ENMU offers a concurrent program in English language skills and American culture while working on bachelor’s or master’s degrees if required to meet language proficiency requirements. Courses taken through our ESL Program in American language and culture may be taken at the same time you are working on your academic program, so you are always making progress toward meeting your educational and professional goals.

Your Evaluated Transcripts
If you have studied outside the United States, please submit your official transcripts to a NACES-member organization for evaluation. This organization will then send your evaluated transcripts to ENMU. Please note:

If you plan to be an online student, staying in your home country to complete your degree, then skip to Step 5.
Step 3
Send ENMU Your Financial Statement (if you plan to be an on-campus student in Portales, New Mexico):
- Submit your ENMU Declaration of Finance (Undergraduate Student) or the ENMU Declaration of Finance (Graduate Student), and
- Include an official letter from your bank. The letter from the bank must be an original hardcopy on official letterhead and show the equivalent in United States dollars. Scanned email attachments, copies, and faxes of the bank letter will not be accepted. You may send a digital copy of the Declaration of Finance.
- For information about other methods of financial certification, contact International Student Advisor. If you plan to complete your degree online from your home country, you do not need to submit a Declaration of Finance. All financial documents must be dated within six months of your intended program start date.
Step 4
Get Your Visa.
This step is only necessary if you plan to be an on-campus student in Portales, New Mexico. If you plan to complete your degree online from your home country, you do not need to get a Visa. Learn more about Visas >
After you are admitted to ENMU, you will receive an I-20 form for an F-1 Visa, or a DS-2019 form for a J-1 Visa. If you are transferring from another institution located in the U.S., please fill out the International Student Transfer Form and send it to the Office of International Student Advising.
