Bio
Dr. Amrit Bahadur Thapa is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education at Eastern New Mexico University. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics, Mathematics, and Statistics from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, a Master's in Mathematics Education and a Master's of Philosophy in Mathematics Education from Kathmandu University, Nepal, and a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education from Ohio University. His research and scholarly interests focus on critical areas such as the Dislike of Mathematics, Quantitative Reasoning, Democratic Classroom Practices, and Mathematical Empowerment for Critical Citizenship. Dr. Thapa has presented his work at various prestigious national and international conferences, including ICME, JMM, OCTM, RUME, and NNN.
During his Ph.D. at Ohio University, Dr. Thapa exhibited strong leadership as Vice President (2022-23) and President (2023-24) of the Graduate Student Senate. In these roles, he was a founding member of the Graduate Student Conference (GradCon) and played a key role in establishing community service and outreach programs for graduate students. Additionally, Dr. Thapa contributed to university governance by serving on several important committees, including the Curriculum Council, President's Cabinet, and Graduate Council.
At ENMU, Dr. Thapa teaches courses such as Mathematics Methods and Creativity Across Curriculum, working closely with both undergraduate and graduate students. With over a decade of K-12 mathematics teaching experience, five years in teacher education, and expertise in graduate-level mathematics education, he brings a wealth of knowledge to the classroom. Outside academia, Dr. Thapa enjoys traveling, hiking, studying history, and exploring politics and culture.

Currently, Dr. Mark Viner is an Assistant Professor of Educational Technology at Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU). At ENMU, Dr. Viner educates undergraduates and graduate students in the area of integrating technology into classroom practices. In addition, his experiences include working extensively with K-12 administrators, principals and teachers in providing sustained professional development in the area of technology integration. Dr. Viner has a passion or Project-based Learning and Inquiry-based learning environments using technology.
