About The Gallery Associate Internship
Annually, the Runnels Gallery hosts up to four gallery associate internship positions open to ENMU undergraduate or graduate students interested in gallery management. Ideal candidates will demonstrate enthusiasm and the commitment to providing an exceptional arts experience to the Eastern campus and surrounding communities.
Preferred candidates will be able to:
- Enroll in ART 489 Internship in Art for one to three credit hours
- Be available to work 50 to 100 hours per 16-week semester

The Gallery Associate's Responsibilities
The gallery associate's primary responsibility is to assist with the day-to-day operation of the gallery. The gallery provides a variety of diverse art exhibitions and community outreach projects throughout the year; these projects are meant to connect art and the process of creating art to the campus and surrounding community. The duties of the internship position include assisting with:
- Development of the gallery exhibition season
- Assist with social media, videography and editing
- Development of a student fees proposal for yearly funding and defense of that proposal at student fees hearing
- Setting up and operating gallery receptions, award presentations and artist lectures
- Marketing and advertising
- Gallery repairs including painting and plaster work
- Meeting with guest artists to confirm installation/teardown dates, installation requirements, titles of work, pricing information, etc.
- All exhibition installations and teardowns
- All community outreach projects and guest artist workshops
Applicants to the gallery associate internship position should:
- Have a flexible schedule and ablility to work evenings and weekends
- Have strong time management and organization skills
- Be able to think critically and problem solve
- Have the ability to work independently
- Be a self-starter and highly motivated
- Have exceptional interpersonal communication skills
