Eastern New Mexico University Runnels Gallery Presents Annual "K through ENMU" Juried Art Exhibition

Portales, NM – April 17, 2025 – The Eastern New Mexico University Runnels Gallery is proud to present the 2025 K through ENMU Juried Art Exhibition, from March 31 through April 26 in the Golden Student Success Center (GSSC). This annual spring exhibition celebrates the creativity and achievements of young artists in kindergarten through 12th grade across the region.

This year’s exhibition features over 100 original artworks selected from over 300 submissions, representing students from the region's public, private, and homeschool backgrounds. Artists were invited to submit works in all media types created within the past three years and not previously exhibited at Runnels Gallery.

Submissions were evaluated in three grade-level divisions:

  • Elementary division (K–4th grade)
  • Junior high division (5th–8th grade)
  • High school division (9th–12th grade)

A juried panel reviewed each entry based on three key criteria:

  • First impression: The immediate impact of the artwork.
  • Originality and creativity: The uniqueness of the concept and execution.
  • Artist’s perspective: The clarity of personal voice through style, materials, themes, and expression.

Awards were given for First, Second, and Third Place in each division, and Best of Show was selected from all entries.

"K through ENMU is a joyful celebration of student creativity and a tribute to the power of art education throughout New Mexico and West Texas," says Bryan Hahn, university curator and gallery manager. "We are thrilled to showcase the emerging talent of our region’s young artists and share their work with the surrounding community."

A closing reception will be held on Saturday, April 26, from 1–3 p.m., where the public is invited to view the artwork, celebrate the artists, and enjoy refreshments.

The art show's admission is free and open to the public during GSSC hours. For more information on the K-ENMU Art Show, visit https://www.enmu.edu/K-ENMU.
