Eastern New Mexico University Hosts 51st Annual Student Research and Creativity Conference

Portales, NM – March 31, 2025 – Eastern New Mexico University will host the 51st Annual Student Research and Creativity Conference on Thursday, April 3, 2025.

The Student Research and Creativity Conference features undergraduate and graduate students from all disciplines who present their research and creative works in paper, poster, performance, culinary displays, and art display categories. This conference allows students to gain valuable presentation experience and receive feedback on their work from faculty members across many disciplines.

"ENMU is proud to support and celebrate the outstanding achievements of students participating in this year's Annual Student Research and Creativity Conference," said John Montogomery, Assistant Vice President for Research. "Our conference serves as a platform for showcasing our students' innovative and creative projects. This annual event illustrates the power of research and creativity and the importance of learning and discovery at our university."

Dr. Ruby Estrada from the New Mexico Alliance for Minority Participation (NM AMP) program will give a keynote address on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in the Golden Student Success Center Presentation Room. The address, titled NM AMP: A Statewide Effort to Increase Undergraduate Research in STEM, will discuss how the NM AMP program enhances a sense of belonging among undergraduate students as an important co-factor in student success and retention.

The Thursday night awards banquet in the Campus Union Building Ballroom will feature a panel led by Dr. Elizabeth Lynch, an assistant professor of anthropology at ENMU, and Dr. Elizabeth Stewart, an assistant professor of secondary education at ENMU. They will discuss their recent successful experience involving faculty and students from different academic disciplines working together on a multidisciplinary research project.
