Dr. Phillip Million Retires

Q. When did you begin working at ENMU?

1992 (retired in December 2015)

Q. What were the main duties of your job?

I taught undergraduate and graduate courses in Communicative Disorders, advised students, and was Director of the Hearing Clinic

Q. What did you enjoy most about your job?

I enjoyed the association with dedicated professionals, and the stimulating and varied working environment.

Q. What were you doing before you came to ENMU, and what other jobs have you held?

I was in private practice at a medical clinic just before coming to ENMU, but I also had teaching positions at two other universities.

Q. What are your degrees and majors, and what activities did you participate in college?

BS - Phillips University

MS, PhD - University of Oklahoma

MDiv - University of Dubuque Theological Seminary

Q. Where were you born, raised, and what was your life like growing up?

I was born in Kentucky and grew up in a military family in different places in the U.S. and abroad

Q. Tell us about your own family?

My wife (Geralyn) was also a long-time employee at ENMU (mostly in the Distance Education Program and the ENMU Foundation). We have three grown children, one of whom received a master's degree from ENMU.

Q. What gives your life meaning?

Family and friends, and now working in my second career

Q. What is your general impression of Portales, and ENMU?

Portales was a blessing in being able to raise a family in a safe and friendly environment. I enjoyed my many years at ENMU working with the many dedicated professionals who helped make the fine institution that it is.

Q. What are some of your plans for retirement?

Now working in my second career in ministry in the Dallas area
