How to Handle Morning and Evening Classes

How to Handle Morning and Evening Classes

Morning and evening classes can be a struggle. I have never been good at either of these types of courses, but only because I never took the time to be prepared beforehand. I have learned a lot of valuable lessons from my experiences. Here are a couple of tips and tricks to help you succeed in these classes:

Plan Ahead

Organize your schedule to know what your days consist of. When I took morning classes every other day a few years ago, my sleep schedule affected my performance at school. I always forgot what day my morning class landed on. I would wake up late and run out the door mentally and physically unprepared. Knowing what class starts on what day will help you develop a rhythm and will help you be consistent. Allow yourself to finish the day well so that you can prepare for the next morning. Make a plan to wake up early, get there on time and, most importantly, organize.

Nutrition is Necessary

Nutrition is a big one. Having morning classes and evening class can be a stressful time to focus on what you eat. They can replace breakfast and dinner, and that's not a good thing. I remember in my first year at ENMU, one of my evening classes landed right at dinner time.

Sometimes I wouldn't grab a bite to eat before that class, and I would have to scram after class to get a something to eat just before the CUB closed. I quickly learned that I needed to schedule my eating habits and pack a lot of snacks so that I could get the energy my body required. Make sure to get those vital meals every day to ensure your academic success.

Balance Classes

As you will find in every schedule you make for each semester: there will always be one or two classes that will take up most of your time. The challenging part is to find the right balance with all the homework load and having time for yourself. Make sure to stay on top of your classes while still going to your evening and morning classes.

Win the Day

Any chance that you get to earn a positive educational experience with your performance as the determining factor, I encourage you to do it. There is nothing that you can't do. Choose to make the most of your morning and evening classes. Win the day to succeed in those classes.
