Portales, NM – Dec 6, 2024 – Eastern New Mexico University welcomes graduates and their families to the Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena on the ENMU campus on Saturday, December 14 at 10 a.m. to celebrate their academic achievements as part of the one hundred forty-seventh commencement ceremony.
“Commencement is always a special occasion. It allows us to celebrate our graduates' achievements with their family and friends,” said James Johnston, ENMU Chancellor. “I look forward to conferring degrees and sending more outstanding Greyhounds into their chosen careers.”
Associate Professor of Criminal Justice Dr. Omar Camarillo will give the commencement address. The commencement address by Dr. Camarillo will be titled “Turning Obstacles into Opportunity.” The address stresses the importance of turning setbacks in one's life and job into opportunities, as well as highlighting the importance of resiliency in overcoming adversity.
Four hundred and four students are expected to graduate from ENMU this fall, with 233 earning bachelor’s degrees, 92 earning master’s degrees, and 79 earning associate degrees. Two hundred and sixty students are expected to walk at the graduation ceremony.
Additional ceremony highlights include the Honor Guard from Cannon Air Force Base, which will present the colors, and the National Anthem and Alma Mater, sung by graduating ENMU students.
