Eastern New Mexico University Kappa Sigma Chapter wins Founders Circle Award

Portales, NM – Aug 15, 2024– Eastern New Mexico University's Kappa Sigma chapter has been awarded a Founder's Circle award as one of North America's top Kappa Sigma fraternity chapters.

The Founders' Circle Award is the benchmark award in the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, recognizing outstanding chapter management, achievement, and program development in all areas of operation. Eastern New Mexico University's chapter was one of seven chapters nationwide to receive this recognition. This also marks the 23rd consecutive year ENMU's Kappa Sigma chapter has won this award.

"I couldn't be prouder of my brothers as we have broken through every goal we set this past year and greatly represented Eastern New Mexico University," said Aiden "Ace" Etsitty, grand master of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, Theta-Zeta Chapter at ENMU. "We look forward to this upcoming year and breaking even more records through recruitment, academics, and community service."

Kappa Sigma's Theta-Zeta chapter at Eastern New Mexico University and its 51 members recorded the following achievements during its award-winning 2023-2024 academic year:

  • The Theta-Zeta chapter engaged in a total of 5,396 hours of community service
  • The Theta-Zeta chapter raised $4,700 for the military heroes campaign and $2,500 for the ENMU Foundation.
  • The Theta-Zeta chapter raised over $7,000 for its chapter scholarship fund within the Kappa Sigma endowment fund.

"The men of the Theta-Zeta Chapter of Kappa Sigma are extremely hard working in the aspects of scholarship, leadership, fellowship, and service, which are the pillars of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity," said Alex Torres, Alumnus Advisor. "I am extremely proud of these men for their dedication to the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and their representation of Eastern New Mexico University. The men of the Theta-Zeta chapter are excited for the upcoming fall 2024 semester and to represent Eastern New Mexico University again at next year's Conference."

Eastern New Mexico University's Kappa Sigma chapter also received the Academic Excellence Award and the Silver Bowl award at the annual ceremony held at the end of July.

"Our Theta-Zeta Chapter of Kappa Sigma remains a model fraternity and a great example of what it means to have a strong Greek life presence on our campus," said James Johnston, ENMU Chancellor.  "I add my congratulations on this latest recognition and express my appreciation for all they do on campus and in our community."
