Portales, NM – April 19, 2024 – In conjunction with several local event venues, Eastern New Mexico University proudly announces a weekend of live music in and around Portales, New Mexico, April 24-27.
"ENMU continues its efforts to be a good community partner and do our part to bring great music and entertainment to our community," said James Johnston, ENMU President. "I hope to see you out and about to enjoy the live music."
On Wednesday, April 24, Uncle Mike's will feature the band One Side Surrender and local musician Brannon Oliver. This night will feature a food drive where patrons can bring their canned goods and non-perishable items to donate to the community.
Friday, April 26, live music continues at two venues in Portales, with Portales' Full Circle Band taking the stage at Uncle Mike's and the eastern New Mexico-based band Mammoth Cults taking the stage at Runnerz Cantina.
A full afternoon and evening of live music on Saturday, April 27, kicks off at Enchantment Vineyards, with West Texas musician Jim Dixon taking the stage from 4-6 p.m.
The evening continues at Eastern New Mexico University with the third annual spring country music concert. ENMU will host a VIP dinner for VIP guests in the south gym of Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena. The dinner features ENMU student musicians Hannah Gaudry and Zachary Townsend performing live from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
At 6:30 p.m., local musician Matt Ancira takes the main stage at Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena to open the main country music concert. Ancira has been a part of the local music scene for the past 25 years and will bring his talent to the main stage to kick off the night.
Mason & the Gin Line from Lubbock, Texas, will take the stage following Ancira's performance. The band is fronted by the enigmatic Mason Server, whose gritty vocals serve as the heart and soul of the band. They weave country and rock elements together to create a timeless and contemporary sound.
Finally, one of Country Music's biggest stars, Rodney Atkins, will take the main stage at Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena. With six number-one singles, eight top-five singles, and 3.8 billion career streams under his belt, Atkins continues to be recognized as one of the most powerful voices in country music.
