Eastern New Mexico University College of Business Dean Bob Schneider Named One of the 2023 Veteran Champions of the Year in Higher Education by G.I. Jobs Magazine

Portales, NM – October 4, 2023 – ENMU College of Business Dean Bob Schneider was named one of the 2023 Veteran Champions of the Year in Higher Education by G.I. Jobs Magazine in their magazine's fall edition.

Being named a Veteran Champion of the Year in Higher Education means that Schneider is one of the advocates who goes above and beyond to help student veterans and their families succeed in education. Schneider was among 40 Higher Education administrators recognized nationwide for being a 2023 Veteran Champion of the Year in Higher Education.

"Our veterans deserve our support. Working in a university that supports veterans is a must for me," said Bob Schneider, Dean of ENMU College of Business.  "Many of the veterans at ENMU function throughout the day without anyone even knowing they are veterans. Most will say they don’t want special treatment but pay attention to how we act and speak. Remembering that freedom isn’t free is a daily thought for every veteran."

Schneider, who spent 20 years in the US Army, first as a Combat MEDIC, then as a drill sergeant, and later promoted to first sergeant, is involved with the ENMU Student Veteran’s Organization on the ENMU main campus. Schneider started at ENMU in 2015 as an assistant professor of management and was named the Dean of the College of Business in July of 2021.

"We are extremely proud of Dean Schneider as an administrator for receiving this recognition," said James Johnston, ENMU Chancellor. "We are also grateful for his military service. ENMU continues its long tradition of being a Military Friendly University and extends our thank you to all our active-duty military personnel and veterans."

ENMU holds Gold Military Friendly® Status and is listed as Best for Vets College in the Military Times. With low tuition, a robust support system, and a low 17:1 student-to-faculty ratio, ENMU provides services to veteran military personnel, active-duty personnel, spouses, dependents, National Guard and Reserves members, and survivors of disabled or deceased veterans.
