PORTALES, NM – September 23, 2022 – Eastern New Mexico University and New Mexico-based, Enchantment Vineyards announced today the creation of the Eastern Sunset wine, a dry red wine. The product is available at enmu.edu/EasternSunset.
This dry red wine is a bigbold blend of carefully curated wines grown right here in Portales, New Mexico. It is a beautiful deep garnet color and boasts flavors of dark cherry, raspberry jam, and smoked plum with a subtle earthiness and hints of black pepper and chile. It is best paired with a dish equally bold, like the perfect steak
The Eastern Sunset dry red wine was chosen by a group of ENMU stakeholders who sampled over a dozen different wine varieties at Enchantment Vineyards. Revenues generated from the sales of Eastern Sunset wine will support scholarships for students at Eastern New Mexico University.

The red wine label prominently features the New Mexico red twilight sky behind ENMU's most iconic building, the Administration Building. ENMU alumnus and current Coordinator of Creative Services Bryan Hahn created the label design.

As part of ENMU Homecoming week, ENMU will be hosting a free event at Enchantment Vineyards in Portales, NM on Friday, Sept. 30 from 8 to 10 p.m. for alumni and friends of ENMU to come and taste this new wine.
As part of this event, ENMU is welcoming back The Hamiltons to Portales. The husband-and-wife duo from Ruidoso, New Mexico, will perform live at Enchantment Vineyards from 8 to 10 p.m. Texas singer-songwriters Phil Hamilton and Erica Perry perform a blues-soul-country mix known for their powerful vocals and strong stage presence.
