Portales, NM –Aug. 23, 2022– Eastern New Mexico University announced today that that they will begin the review process for the new University Chancellor/President.
Ninety-seven people have submitted their names for consideration in the search. The candidates come from over thirty states, with a concentration of applicants from New Mexico and surrounding states.
"We know that ENMU is a strong system with great potential for growth and advancement." said Lance Pyle, President of the ENMU Board of Regents. "The breadth of this candidate pool shows what a great opportunity this is to join ENMU."
ENMU has scheduled a series of community forums on all three campuses, to be held Aug. 29-31, to provide input to the 18-member presidential search committee appointed earlier this year. Committee review of the application materials will begin shortly thereafter.
"Our work will be intense," said Phillip Bustos, committee chair and ENMU Regent, "but we’re looking forward to diving in and finding the person ready to lead Eastern New Mexico University and the University system."
New Mexico state law requires that the regents give public consideration to at least five finalists; those interviews are expected to be held in late October.
