PORTALES, NM – June 2, 2022 – This spring the state of New Mexico approved the New Mexico Opportunity Scholarship Act that permanently establishes the Opportunity Scholarship as the most accessible tuition-free scholarship program in the United States.
With a 96% admission rate, Eastern New Mexico University, has one of the most accessible opportunities in the State of New Mexico for students to start, continue or finish their higher education while utilizing the New Mexico Opportunity Scholarship.

Eligibility for the New Mexico Opportunity scholarship includes being an established New Mexico resident and enrolling in a minimum of 6 credit hours at an eligible New Mexico public college or University towards an associate or first bachelor's degree. Once enrolled students must complete all enrolled hours each semester with a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA, to be eligible to continue receiving the scholarship.
