Eastern New Mexico University has recommended that students fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) which opened on Oct. 1 for the 2021–22 academic year. The FAFSA makes it possible for college students to access federal scholarships, grants, work-study, and other programs to help cover higher education costs. Eligible students can receive up to $6,495 for the upcoming academic year via the Pell Grant and between $100 and $4,000 via the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG).
Current high school seniors are encouraged to apply, as well as any New Mexican seeking to enroll in college for the upcoming academic year. A FAFSA application shows a family's financial strength, which is used to determine a student's eligibility for specific financial aid programs. Additionally, any ENMU student who wishes to work on campus needs to have applied for the FAFSA.
Students and families should plan to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible, but no later than March 1, as some available funds are first come, first served. Applicants with questions should reach out to the Eastern New Mexico University Office of Financial Aid at 575.562.2194 or [email protected].
"Federal financial aid is one of the best ways to finance a college education," ENMU Chancellor Patrice Caldwell said. "ENMU is here to help students every step of the way. Let us help you take that first step to the college degree and career you've dreamed of having."
Students and parents can complete the FAFSA at https://www.fafsa.gov and find additional information about state scholarships at http://www.FreeCollegeNM.org
