Marching Band Music in the Air at ENMU's Green and Silver Classic

PORTALES, NM – Oct. 6, 2021 – Eastern New Mexico University's Department of Music celebrated the return of the Green and Silver Classic marching band festival on Tuesday, Oct. 5, with bands from 10 high schools in eastern New Mexico and West Texas performing and competing at Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium.

New Mexico schools Portales, Roswell, Lovington, Roswell Goddard and Hobbs, and Texas schools Friona, Farwell, Brownfield and Levelland joined the ENMU Greyhound Sound on the field in an all-day celebration of marching band music.

"This festival was extremely successful," ENMU Director of Bands Dustin Seifert said. "I was most touched by the obvious joy within the community assembled at Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium. I'm grateful that ENMU could play such a strong role in the re-emergence of public music making."

Friona, Farwell, Brownfield, Levelland, Goddard, Roswell, Lovington, Hobbs and Clovis all earned Standard of Excellence awards. Farwell earned Best in Class for 1A/2A, while Goddard was named Best in Class for 4A/5A. Clovis won Best Music Performance, Best Marching Performance and Best General Effect Awards and was named Best in Class 5A and Best Overall Band.
