Portales has a great variety of restaurants on and off campus. Grab your friends and go try out the yummy food in town:
On campus:
There are several food options on campus. Stop by anytime you need a little pick-me-up before hitting the books once again!
- Crossroads Café Dining Hall has all you can eat buffet style foods. They have several options, including made-to-order pastas, sub sandwiches, a grill and a salad bar. The made-to-order pasta is a necessity to surviving homework and all the studying that comes with college. #allthecarbs
- The Crossroads Dining Hall is open Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. (brunch!) and 5-6:30 p.m.
- World of Wings (WoW) is wow. They have several New Orleans-influenced dishes and combos (quesadillas, fajitas, wings). Personally, I am a big fan of their sandwiches. Every time I walk into the CUB, I can always smell their delicious food cooking.
- Starbucks/Zime Café is always a good choice as you are headed to class. One word: coffee. This can go without being said, but coffee is also another necessity in college. Not only do they have coffee and other tasty beverages, they have treats and snacks that will give you that mid-day boost, like donuts, cookies, bagels, fresh fruit to-go, chips and more.
Off-campus:
- Something Different Grill is always a lunch favorite. They have sandwiches, wraps, salads, spuds, specialty bowls and more. I love their teriyaki chicken and shrimp bowls that come with white rice and cabbage. Something Different just did remodeling, and the atmosphere is relaxing yet trendy. Pro tip: Happy Hour for their tea is from 2-5 p.m. They have the best sweet and unsweet teas, plus you can add in lots of flavors. You are welcome.
- McCarty's Café has basically everything you could ever need: chicken strips, tacos, burgers and breakfast burritos. They are also known for their green chili fries, which are incredible. Recently, they were just named the best breakfast burrito in Portales!
- Roosevelt Brewing Company is my favorite restaurant in Portales. They have a variety of pizzas, sandwiches, salads and burgers. Every time I have gone to Roosevelt, I have tried something different and have yet to be disappointed. Personal favorite: the specialty pizzas.
I don't know about you, but I am suddenly feeling very hungry.
