Alumni Success - Priscilla Murray

Priscilla Murray graduated from Eastern New Mexico University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management. Murray currently works as a Contract Specialist for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, where she writes contracts, negotiates project requirements, and solidifies terms and conditions.

Murray grew up in House, New Mexico, with her three sisters and mother. She is a first-generation college student and was interested in pursuing paralegal work. Initially, Murray attended Clovis Community College (CCC) where she got her Associate of Arts and Sciences in Paralegal. After graduating with her associates, she transferred to ENMU where she continued her education and graduated with her bachelor’s degree in business administration and management. Eastern helped her explore her passions and figure out what she wanted to chase as a career. ENMU provided Murray with skills that allow her to confidently make decisions when it comes to caring for Veterans as well as using taxpayers' money in an effective way.

While Murray was completing her master's she worked as an adjunct instructor at CCC. Teaching allowed her the chance to share with her students the lessons she had learned while applying real life scenarios to her curriculum. After graduating with her master's, Murray worked as a paralegal for two years until she chose to pursue a change in her career. She started working as an administrative assistant while she searched for alternatives. Murray wanted to find a job where she could use her legal knowledge and her business skills, merging both of her passions. She found that her skills fit well into a profession as a contract specialist.

Murray has worked as a contract specialist for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for two years. Being able to work behind the scenes and help people who need it is the most rewarding aspect of her job. Murray finds fulfillment in her work, and she encourages anyone interested in becoming a contract specialist to be detailed and assertive. Outside of work, Murray enjoys traveling and spending time with her three daughters and her husband.
