5 in 5 Video Presentation with Dr. Lee Hurren

Dr. Lee Hurren, Dean of the College of Education and Technology

The College of Education and Technology at Eastern New Mexico University, led by Dean Lee Hurren, offers a range of hands-on learning opportunities across its three departments: Educational Studies, Curriculum & Instruction, and Agriculture, Food Science, & Kinesiology. Students pursuing education degrees can benefit from the Teacher Residency Program, which provides a paid, year-long teaching placement or a semester-long student teaching experience. The nationally accredited Child Development Center allows future educators to gain real-world experience while working with young children. The college also supports literacy development through its Summer Reading Clinic, which helps local students improve their reading skills. In the Agriculture and Culinary Arts programs, students enjoy high acceptance rates into veterinary schools and access to New Mexico’s only four-year culinary degree. Additionally, the Seed to Table program gives agriculture students experience growing, harvesting, and preparing food for the Child Development Center. A recent NASA grant further expands STEM education opportunities, focusing on space science for underserved middle school students. Through career-focused training and hands-on experiences, the College of Education and Technology at ENMU continues to prepare students for success in education, agriculture, and STEM fields.
