Summary: Clovis Community College is accepting applications for part-time ESL, Basic Reading, and GED Instructors in the Center for Student Success. Days and evenings are available.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree, preferred. A minimum of two years of related work experience in the field of education preferred. Educational training in adult education methods highly desirable. Background in teaching/tutoring adults from varied backgrounds, preferably in adult basic education. Instructor must be patient, friendly, caring, and demonstrate an appreciation of diverse cultural groups and must be able to relate to them effectively.

Duties: Assess students' educational levels through the administration of standardized pre-and post-test assessments every semester. Assess students' educational needs and goals. Teach practical communication and academic skills according to students' abilities. Serve as a facilitator of student learning. Become familiar with the variety of texts, workbooks and resources available for use in the class. Become familiar with and develop the teaching methods of adult education. Provide students with variety of appropriate experiences through the application of various teaching techniques. Develop a workable plan of objectives to be accomplished given the timeline. Pre-assess the student's level of skill ability and teach accordingly. Develop an understanding of adult learning needs, the ABE program and its mission. Maintain and submit monthly attendance and follow-up reports, timesheets, student enrollment and registration forms and end-of-semester progress reports. Assist in student recruitment and retention. Ensure the security of the classroom/facility. Promote Clovis Community College to make students aware of the additional courses and services offered in the Center for Student Success. Attend mandatory teacher In-Service trainings. Begin and end class as scheduled.
