Summary: The City of Santa Fe Community Services is searching for a qualified applicant to assist in providing and conducting recreational, instructional and educational programs and activities for children ages 6-12 for the Summer Youth Program.

Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Considerable knowledge of a variety of arts and crafts and/or sports activities and of childcare.
Ability to apply common sense and understanding in carrying out simple instructions to learn job duties from oral instruction and demonstration. Ability to communicate effectively; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public. Ability to be responsible and assertive in working with youth ages 6-12.

Special Qualifications
If 18 years of age or older, must successfully pass background investigation. Mandatory CPR and First Aide Training will be provided by the City of Santa Fe upon hiring.

Work Environment
Work is performed inside and outdoors at a recreational facility. Subject to cuts, scrapes, bruises, broken bones, germs, bacteria, viruses, dust; requires light physical exertion, including sitting, walking, standing, bending twisting, squatting, stooping, kneeling, reaching and climbing. Must be able to lift 25 lbs. Working irregular work hours is required.

Duties: Assists in enforcing recreation rules and regulations among patrons to prevent injuries to patrons and damage to recreational areas and recreation equipment.
Assists in instruction and care of patrons and participates in a variety of arts and crafts classes, sporting activities and events.
Assists in serving food and snacks to patrons.
Attends meetings and trainings as required.
Performs general maintenance and cleaning of facility at the end of each workday.
Assists Summer Youth Program supervisors with the coordination, implementation and oversight with the various recreational, instructional and educational activities for children ages 6-12.
Interacts with children and youth with physical and/or mental disabilities as needed on a daily basis.
