Job Summary: The Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests and Pawnee National Grasslands are currently recruiting prospective applicants to fill the position of Civil Engineer on the Sulphur Ranger District. The Sulphur Ranger District is located in Grand County Colorado. The District totals approximately 450,000 acres. The duty station for this position will be located in Granby, Colorado.
Duties: Performs civil engineering project planning duties, such as scheduling and layout of operations, planning for budget requirements, and inspection and surveillance of materials, methods, and equipment used in tests and/or construction.
Organizes, schedules, coordinates, and facilitates the timing, sequence, quality, quantity, and issues related to all such projects and work requests.
Performs facilities engineering management duties that include guidance, development, and coordination of programs for the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of facilities and structures.
Reviews construction project plans for practicability, availability of materials, and suitability of specifications. Works with contractors to ensure adherence to construction specifications and administrative requirements, and to negotiate pricing changes, if necessary.
Prepares designs, technical drawings, sketches, and specifications.
Conducts safety compliance inspection and condition surveys in performing facilities engineering management duties.
Performs duties of COR and ER for project initiation and implementation. Applicant will preferably have USFS COR and ER certification or will be able to attain certification within reasonable time period.
