Status: Full-time position
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Job Summary: The Director of Plant Services & Transportation will be responsible for all maintenance/construction activities for all district properties. This includes planning, budgeting, and supervising the development of specifications for work to be done by both contractors and in-house staff. Responsibility will also include overall supervision of all assigned department supervisors.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, management or a related field preferred. Prior successful administrative/managerial experience in a related position and technical training may be substituted for a degree if comparable to degree program completion requirements.
Comprehensive knowledge of construction, building maintenance and custodial operations.
Ten years experience in fields related to construction/inspection supervision of trades with 5 years experience in public work preferred.
Proven prior successful experience as a leader of others with the ability to provide training and produce results.
Knowledge of current construction codes.
Experience in budget preparation and administration.
Familiarity with school maintenance/operations and construction.
Knowledge of OSHA and other applicable compliance requirements.
Duties: Select and purchase supplies and materials. Coordinate purchase of assigned District capital outlay acquisitions.
Plan and direct a comprehensive maintenance program.
Make recommendations that will provide for structurally safe buildings, grounds and equipment.
Work as needed with architects, engineers, and construction companies in maintenance, building expansion or remodeling projects.
Act as consultant when principals need changes in school plant or facilities.
Serve as a resource to schools regarding staffing, selection, performance and standards for custodial staff.
Assist the Assistant Superintendent for Business Services in the preparation of the budget as it pertains to maintenance, construction, remodeling and planning.
Prepare multi-year maintenance plans and associated budgets for all District facilities.
Serve as Liaison with the State, County and City officials regarding District facilities.
Responsible for all District Fire and Security Systems.
