Job Summary: ASRC Federal Space and Defense brings a 14-year history of delivering high-performance space systems engineering, integration and satellite operations services to civil and defense agencies. ASRC Federal Space and Defense provides these services throughout all phases of the program life cycle and across the entire space systems architecture, including space and ground assets.
Qualifications: Entry-level to experienced, but still a learner typically with a bachelors degree and 2 years experience or equivalent.
Some use and/or application of technical principles, theories, and concepts; develops solutions to problems of limited to moderate scope and complexity; work may be closely supervised while following specific, detailed instructions or under general supervision; failure to achieve results may result in the allocation of additional resources and cause delays in program schedules; contacts are primarily with immediate supervisor, project leaders and internal to company or group with infrequent customer contacts.
Duties: The Systems Administrator will work closely with members of the contractor team, the customer, as well as associate contractors, in performance of their duties.
Under the supervision of senior personnel, configure the operating system software in accordance to project/operational requirements. (e.g., assigning user profiles, log-ins, passwords, defining printer or modem access, hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage and setting up user restrictions).
Responsible for effective installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems and related infrastructure, ensuring that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational guidelines.
Help develop and maintain installation/configuration procedures.
Assist in the development of plans for short-term/long-term loss of system hardware and software.
Performs routine system maintenance such as backing up or archiving files and adding software updates.
Works closely with configuration management, software and hardware maintenance personnel in a fast paced environment.
Works with the network security manager/information assurance personnel to set up network security policies and procedures.
Applicant will help monitor system security and issue passwords at periodic intervals
Will assist in the creation of user documentation to include; user manuals that include sign-on and sign-off procedures, use of basic commands, software policies, user responsibilities, etc.
Applicant will research/recommend automated approaches for system administration tasks.
Applicant will perform daily system monitoring; verify availability of all system/server resources, reviewing/archiving system and application logs.
