This position is located at the International Capacity Building Branch (ICBB), Leadership and International Training Division (LITD), Office of Domestic and International Training (ODI), Regional and International Training Directorate (RITD), Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC), Glynco, GA. The purpose of this position is to provide training support and assistance to the ICBB which is responsible for FLETC’s participation in the International Law Enforcement Academy Program (ILEA) Program and delivery of international training and technical assistance to law enforcement and criminal justice officers from foreign countries.
More than one position may be filled should the need arise.
Applicable relocation expenses will not be paid.
Qualifications: Applicants must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience performing a variety of administrative/technical functions relating to scheduling and allocating resources in the education or training process.
Current Federal employees must also have served 52 weeks at the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service.
Duties: Being a Training Technician makes you a valuable member of the FLETC team and mission. Performs a full range of requisite training support responsibilities associated with ILEA operations and the international and domestic training and technical assistance conducted by the Leadership and International Division. Representative of these responsibilities are: (1) supporting the ILEA operations; (2) providing logistical and program support for exported training programs and technical assistance; (3) assisting in the administration of FLETC’s foreign visitors program; (4) processing training requests from international students; (5) assisting with LITD administrative operations Typical assignments include:
Maintaining the syllabi on the assigned Center Advanced and Basic Programs, maintaining pending application files and class files; processing security information; notifying other agencies, FLETC offices, divisions and students, where applicable, of security clearances, class cancellations, course costs, class availability, preparing confirmation letters and appropriate enclosures; preparing and distributing class rosters; tracking student numbers, ensuring LITD and ICBB budgetary limitations are not exceeded in the area of training supplements, posting action to international database and LITD and ICBB calendar; following up with sponsoring agencies when confirmed participants do not attend; handling various logistical, financial and administrative duties associated with supporting international travel, ILEA operations and exported international and domestic training and technical assistance and other activities directly associated with day to day operations affecting the LITD and specific ICBB customer or FLETC’s partner organization.
Responsible for maintenance of complex lesson plans for International training programs working with the instructional staff and training management personnel responsible for lesson plan development to ensure the subject matter remains current and is properly filed.
Assists in the planning and coordination of export training to include complex international travel arrangements, transportation, passport and visa acquisition, fee computation and miscellaneous expenses for staff and other assigned instructors.
Incumbent assists in analyzing the state-of-the-art instructional systems and technological developments in adult training which are applicable for the International law enforcement market.
Performs other duties and tasks, as assigned, and in support of and directly relating to ILEA operations and international training and technical assistance; which may include foreign and domestic travel and TDY assignments overseas for extended periods.
