Job Summary: The Deschutes and Ochoco National Forests are looking for interested candidates to fill a Fisheries Biologist position at the GS-482-9 level. The position is a Permanent Seasonal Employee position with an 18/8 tour, works directly for the Forest Fisheries Biologist and will be located in Bend, Oregon. The purpose of this Outreach Notice is to recruit prospective applicants for this opportunity and determine interest in this position.
The Forests Aquatics program is varied, complex and challenging. The position would mainly be working with and directing the Forests aquatics monitoring program including management of stream survey program, stream temperature program, Forest level GIS aquatic layers, coordination with state and federal agencies on monitoring, and updating associated data bases.
Duties: This position provides input to the fish habitat management program and includes coordination of studies of fishery populations, gathering and compiling and analyzing data, writing reports and limited environmental analyses. In includes data input and maintenance of a variety of local and national data bases. It leads the habitat inventory program along with the other parts of the Forest Plan monitoring program for the aquatics resource area. The position works cooperatively with State, Tribal and Federal fish and water quality management agencies. This position leads and develops the program of work for the stream survey crew in cooperation with the District Fisheries Biologists. Performs other duties as assigned.
