Job Summary: Performs as a Meals on Wheels Delivery Personnel, who delivers meals to the frail, homebound seniors within the City and County of Santa Fe.
Qualifications: Education and Experience:
Duties: A. High School diploma; and
C. An equivalent combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of the Santa Fe Area, knowledge of streets and roads and know how to read a map. Knowledgeable in personal computer/printer, various computer software programs, facsimile, photo copier, multi-line telephone, two-way radio, broom, mop/bucket, city vehicle, manuals and writing instruments
Considerable skill in communication, ability to communicate orally as well as written.
Ability to operate motor vehicle in a safe, efficient and timely manner in all types of weather. Ability to deal with seniors and disabled clients in a courteous and professional manner
Works under the general guidance and direction of the MOW supervisor.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (A position my not include all of the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all duties that may be found in a position of this class.)
Assists in packaging meals for delivery.
Delivers Meals on Wheels (MOW), breakfast and lunch to our frail homebound seniors throughout the City and County of Santa Fe.
Conduct home visits (written assessments) determine eligibility of potential recipients, continually monitors clients and reports/refers abnormalities to the immediate supervisor.
Makes appropriate referrals and determines length of service required.
Have the flexibility and be familiar with all existing MOW routes located in the City and County of Santa Fe, to ensure that all meals are delivered in a timely manner in the absence of a driver.
Be familiar and comply with ED regulations i.e., conduct daily hot and cold food temperatures for filing purposes, sanitation etc.
Provide and deliver weekend food bags for MOW clients.
Collect nutrition donations from homebound seniors and make daily deposits to City Cashier’s office as required by state statute.
Responsible for the maintenance of the MOW loading zone (sweep & mop as needed). Perform daily pre-trip inspections, cleans inside and outside city vehicle, performs minor vehicle maintenance and fuel vehicle as needed.
Assists with activities at various senior centers including set up and take down; may be required to move furnishings and fixtures.
Other duties as may be required.
