Job Summary: We are seeking a Chemical Engineer to provide operational, research and development, training, and subject matter expertise and analyses decision support to the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) as part of its Reachback contract. The successful candidate will provide general knowledge and subject matter expertise in hazardous materials and their physical characteristics associated with releases into the atmosphere from containment, transport/dispersion in the atmosphere and/or inside structures. The position provides hazard prediction, modeling and simulation in technical areas involving CBRNE hazards/phenomena resulting from chemical, biological, nuclear, and radiological incidents or attacks.
Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications
The applicant must be a US citizen.
Applicant selected for this position may start without a clearance but must be able to obtain and maintain at least an active/interim DoD secret clearance. Applicant selected for a security clearance will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirement for access to classified information.
Candidate must have MS or PhD Chemistry or Chemical Engineering and at least 0-5 years of relevant experience working within the DoD and/or other CBRNE communities. Candidate must possess a college degree from an accredited US college/university.
The ability to work in a team environment with a flexible schedule with rotating shifts.
Strong communication skills, both orally and verbally, with technical presentation, graphic visualization and Microsoft Office proficiency skills are required.
Ability to conduct independent scientific and technical analyses of collected data with limited supervision.
The ideal candidates will have previous experience in Combating WMD threats in an operational environment, with a willingness to take on new initiatives outside of their specific area of expertise.
Former military personnel would be a plus.
Duties: Provides technical Reachback 24/7 to combatant commanders regarding a wide variety of technical and meteorological experience and expertise in operational forecasting.
Provides liaison with governmental agencies and research organizations.
Performs complex engineering and scientific analyses, and assessments for chemical, biological, nuclear and radiological incidents, accidents, events, and military actions.
Provide operational CBRNE subject matter expertise support to various CoCOMs and other USG agencies as needed.
