Job Summary: Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is currently hiring an Assistant Professor for the College of Business. This is a full-time 12 month faculty position responsible for teaching classes at various campuses in different modalities. It may also include other duties including evaluating/mentoring adjunct faculty at one of our Worldwide campus locations.
Qualifications: A relevant Doctorate is required, in one of the following or related disciplines as determined by the Department Chair and College Dean: Finance or Financial Economics. Consideration would also be given those individuals with doctorate degrees in business with concentrations in finance, economics, and accounting. The primary teaching responsibilities will likely be managerial economics (MBAA 523) and finance (MBAA 518). Additionally, the Department of Business Administration is starting a finance concentration within the MBAA degree. New courses will include international finance, money and banking, and futures and options. Preferred candidates will have the ability to teach two or more of the courses within the concentration in addition to the general finance and managerial economics courses. Additional beneficial skills include strong quantitative/research skills with the potential ability to teach business research methods if necessary.
Duties: As an academic appointment with faculty rank, this position includes teaching and university service as the principle responsibilities. A requirement of this position is to teach an annual course load of 30 semester hours (normally 10 courses), and engage in University, College, and Department activities. Course waivers may be granted by the Dean in accordance with adjunct faculty oversight responsibilities or academic responsibilities with the College. The individual will work from a home office and will be required to attend all Department, College and Worldwide meetings. An additional requirement is to become proficient in the distance learning modalities utilized by the University including EagleVision Classroom, EagleVision Home, online, and blended. The individual may teach at the undergraduate level and must be willing to travel on occasion to attend meetings and teach classes. The Assistant Professor will assist in faculty and academic issues when requested by the Department Chair and/or College Dean and will be required to promote a positive university image and ensure academic quality within the courses offered within the College. The individual may be required to visit classes and mentor adjunct faculty members as prescribed by Worldwide policies, including conducting faculty evaluations. There is flexibility on where the Assistant Professor's home office is located.
