Job Summary: Maintains electrical, instrument, and related control equipment at wastewater plant, water treatment plant and off-site facilities. On call to said facilities. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications: A journeyman’s license is preferred for this position, although an unlicensed applicant with adequate applicable industrial experience will be considered.
Minimum high school graduate or possess GED certification.
Prefer industrial or commercial experience dealing with single and 3-phase equipment, 480, 220, 110 voltages. Experience at installing and troubleshooting motor controls, and various other problems in industrial or commercial installations. Other electrical or instrumentation experience will be taken into consideration.
Possess Valid Texas C Driver License. Preference may be given to the applicant with Journeyman or higher electrical or other control license or certifications.
Available for Twenty-Four Hour Call.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to read, write, understand and follow oral and written instructions. Physically capable of performing laboring tasks under varying weather conditions. Ability to work with others under varying job conditions. Knowledge of the use and care of typical electrical test instruments and hand tools. Knowledge of construction rules and safety requirements as pertains to electrical work. Ability to read schematics. Ability to use self-contained breathing apparatus or other required safety equipment. Will be required to work on electrical and instrumentation equipment associated with gaseous chlorine and sulfur dioxide systems which will require in-house training and certification to comply with Risk Management Plan requirements.
Duties: Maintains electrical and instrumentation equipment and parts in working order. May include PLC system network when necessary and routine calibrations.
Works with various DC and AC electrical voltages, including single and 3-phase.
Responds to emergency situations.
Installs and maintains conduit and wire/cabling, control panels, motor switch gear, breaker switches, flow and pressure transmitters, flow meters, and other instrumentation common to water and wastewater plants and systems.
Ensures tools and equipment are adequate and in working order.
Maintains plant lighting system.
Advises supervisor of equipment conditions.
Completes required paperwork.
Performs other duties as assigned.
