Job Summary: The Systems Management and Configuration (SMAC) engineer is responsible for providing day-to-day operational support of the production systems that provide systems and configuration management for technology systems. The technology systems can include but not limited to desktops, servers, and network equipment. The area of responsibility also includes the administration and support of the system management tools for the organization. These tools provide the system alerting and metrics for proactive management of the production systems. The SMAC engineer support role includes design and deployment of configuration changes to desktops, servers, and network systems as required using the appropriate SMAC tools. The SMAC engineer will also be involved in special projects and/or consulting on technical problems as needed.
Qualifications: Associates degree or Technical Degree from a 2 year college or university and/or equivalent education and experience. A bachelor's degree in management information systems, computer science, or information science, from a four-year college or university is preferred.
Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM 2012) and/or Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM 2012) and/or Microsoft System Center Service Manager (SCSM 2012) and/or Microsoft System Center Orchestrator and/or ipMonitor or similar applications experience highly desired.
Broad technical knowledge of infrastructure technologies (network, server, telecommunications, backups, data center, applications etc.).
Experience with server technologies and system configuration management tools and processes.
3-5 years experience required in server management and general usage.
SQL server working knowledge.
Excellent client service and interpersonal skills.
Ability to communicate with users and information technology professionals.
Ability to work with vendors to request service and work through defective product issues.
Self starter and ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines with minimal supervision.
