Job Summary: The Reporters are responsible for enterprising and executing hard-news stories that meet station research driven goals. Action News Photographers are responsible for the field acquisition of digital media.
Qualifications: You must be able to shoot, write, voice, and edit a story by yourself. You must be able to lift 40 pounds. We prefer two years experience in a television newsroom as a reporter or photographer. A degree in journalism or related field preferred.
Duties: Reporters are expected to cultivate sources and relationships that will help lead to information that allows them to break stories. They must work within the journalistic and ethical guidelines established in the newsroom. They must work with their photographers to tell visually appealing stories and produce active live shots. The Reporters will write for television and our digital platforms. They will be asked to take still photos at news scenes for our digital platforms.
Photographers must know how to capture emotion and shoot and edit stories that drive ratings, page views, and downloads. They will work with reporters to edit visually appealing stories and to produce active live shots. They must adhere to the legal, journalism and ethical standards for digital media acquisition. They are responsible for the care and safety of their equipment and news vehicle, and for timely reporting of any problems.
