Job Summary: Perform application support, setup and upgrades for mainly Utilities, as required, but will maintain other software support tasks for other departments, as well. Maintain documentation for multiple database application systems and applications and their related components. Periodically test application system disaster recovery plans. Ensure results of application solutions meet service level expectations.
Qualifications: Must pass a state and national fingerprint-based record check.
Minimum GED or high school diploma required. Associates, Bachelor's or Master's degrees in technology or computer science or certifications in SQL and/or Access, VB scripting or MCITP preferred.
Must have extensive Access and SQL database experience. Experience with Wonderware or Historian desired, but not required. Comprehensive understanding of relational database theory and management systems, application upgrading, working with vendors and customers. Database reporting using Crystal Reports. VB Scripting experience highly desired.
Valid Texas Driver License

Proficient knowledge of the various programming languages, applications, operating systems, hardware and networking. Ability to interact effectively with users and capable of working under stress to meet deadlines. Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality. Ability to read, write, understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Duties: Proactively monitor jobs in production environments, perform troubleshooting for those which have failed.
Audit software systems by examining and application/database management system error logs, operating system level event logs, for system, application, and security related issues.
Create and keep current documentation for database management system, applications, database, and hardware, performance tuning configuration, security configuration, and disaster recovery.
Provide support related issues for production, development and test applications to ensure availability.
Provide test environments from production backups for systems level testing of application patches and databases before being migrated to production.
Ensure tested application solutions meet production service level expectations prior to deploying to production.
Periodically test disaster recovery plans to ensure documentation is accurate and current.
Maintain computer systems, Access and Sql based applications, mobile systems, perform troubleshooting, minor repairs and upgrades as required.
Assist users with any network or computer-related questions or problems.
Must have excellent analytical skills to accurately assess a large amount of data for conversion from Access to SQL based applications.
On call 24 hours a day to resolve computer system failure.
Other projects/duties as assigned.
