Job Summary: Under the direction of the Project Director and in consultation with the district school outreach staff provides intensive, individualized and support services to a cohort of students identified as “chronically truant”. The student/Family Advocate will employ a proactive, interdependent systems-approach to address school, home, and community factors underlying each student’s truancy, including: 1) Addressing underlying risk factors for truancy, 2) Improving school attendance and academic outcomes for targeted students, 3) Coordinating and increasing student and family access to services in the community, 4) Creating a successful model to replicate throughout district and county to reduce truancy.

Qualifications: At least 3 years of experience; or equivalent training, working with diverse, high-risk, economically challenged populations or Bachelors degree in Sociology or related field. Demonstrated success in working with diverse socio-economic school communities, anti-truancy programs. (Knowledge of best practices in community solutions to school engagement.) Ability to facilitate small and large group meetings towards program goals and objectives. Prior experience working with youth in a professional setting. Bilingual desired.
