Job Summary: Grayson County College is searching for a Vice President for Student Services. This person is responsible for the leadership, supervision, and evaluation of all admissions and records, campus safety and security, student activities, counseling, financial aid, recruitment, veteran services, resident housing, and special programs and services. This person will develop, monitor and maintain an effective enrollment management system in collaboration with instructional leaders. Duties also include developing and implementing college policy, planning budget management, and community service. This position reports to the President and serves as a member of the President’s Executive Council.

Qualifications: •Master’s degree in a higher education, a teaching discipline, counseling/student services or closely related field.

•Five years of increasingly responsible experience in a college setting. Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may qualify.

•Knowledge of legal issues related to students’ rights and responsibilities

•Experience in counseling, advising, registration, residence hall management, financial aid, campus security, student activities, and/or teaching is valued.

•Strong written and verbal communication skills, and understanding of emerging technology with skills in software applications pertinent to the position.

•Demonstrated cultural awareness, including successful experience working with diverse groups.

•Be student centered and be able to promote the community college philosophy

•Demonstrate a cooperative attitude, be a team player, and have excellent organizational skills.

•Strong management skills, including the ability to adapt to change, make difficult decisions, encourage conflict resolution, and assure employee and departmental accountability.

•Demonstrated ability to listen and evaluate input from employees, students, and community members toward College operations.

•A successful candidate will have a participative management style, and an appreciation for the roles of other vice presidents and faculty.
