Clifton Mulkey

Major: Computer science/math
Hometown: Amarillo, Texas

When he transferred to ENMU, Clifton Mulkey was looking for a smaller school to help him pursue big dreams.

He is majoring in computer science and mathematics to prepare for a career in mathematical research or as a computer scientist for the National Security Agency

Cliff, a junior from Amarillo, Texas, transferred to Eastern from the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. “I came to Eastern because I had friends here, it was affordable and they had the programs I wanted.”

He also found venues for his musical side at ENMU. Cliff plays bass guitar for a worship band at the Baptist Student Union and for a group named “Thank You Cleveland” that performed in the Battle of Bands on campus.

“What stands out here most is the community of students. It’s easy to get to know people and easy to find things to do.”

Cliff, who's a President's Ambassador at ENMU, is president of the group this year.
President's Ambassadors lead customized campus tours for prospective students and answer questions from a current student's point of view.

Cliff has volunteered as a tutor for math and computer science, helping classmates with difficult concepts. “I enjoy teaching. It helps me learn better, too.”

Over the summer, he took on a new challenge during a mission trip to Bosnia, where he taught English and helped build a church. “It was my first overseas trip. I enjoyed meeting the people and learning about their culture.”
