Sheila Dosher
Major: Business administration
Being out of college for 18 years didn’t stop Sheila Dosher from finishing her degree at Eastern
“The transition could have been very traumatic to a full-time working mother of two, but thanks to professors like Dr. Dale Davis and Dr. Bill Brunsen, my experience was always very positive.”
She returned to school at 36, earning a business administration degree with a finance minor in 1992.
Now senior vice president of resident services for SunBridge Healthcare Corporation in Albuquerque, she still remembers being nervous in Dr. Davis’ classes. “But I always walked away being a better student.
“One important revelation from Dr. Davis was that no matter how old you are, or where you are in your life, you can always be a student and have the gift of being able to learn from your life experiences.”
After graduating from Eastern, she completed an M.B.A. while raising her two children.
She now leads clinical, nutritional and operational staff members who oversee the operation of 164 healthcare facilities, including 134 long-term skilled nursing facilities, 20 assisted living facilities, seven mental health facilities and three acute care hospitals. Because SunBridge’s operation covers 19 states, she is a frequent business traveler.
She says her success at ENMU gave her the confidence and skills to pursue a challenging career.
“My Eastern education has paid off 100-fold, and I'm very appreciative of the teaching styles that I was exposed to.” |
