Clinton Hill

Major: Religion
Hometown: Melrose, N.M.

Clinton Hill found his way to ENMU via the long road.

After moving out of the house at 17, the Melrose High School graduate traveled across the country, working as a stand-up comic and actor for two years. Then he was a railroad conductor and manager for three years.

But the jobs left him feeling that he wasn’t fulfilling his life’s work. “I believe everyone is called to do something. I feel that my calling is teaching and speaking.”

To prepare for a career in speaking and youth ministry, Clinton transferred to Eastern from Western Texas University in Snyder. “I thought I would be better educated for what I want to do.”

While he majors in a religion with a minor in Greek, Clinton works at ENMU as a President’s Ambassador and in youth ministry, scheduling trips and retreats and speaking at special events.

He is pleased with the personal connections he’s made with faculty in the Religion Department and with the support from his advisors, who helped him find work.

“Teachers knew my name, and that was a big deal to me. Everyone here genuinely wants to see you succeed.”
